Nils Bech is a Norwegian singer and performance artist born April 8, 1981 in Honefoss, Norway. Raised in a small village outside Oslo, he began performing as a child and started classical voice training at age 10. His debut album "Look Back" was released on Fysisk Format in 2010, and he later signed to James Murphy's DFA Records for his fourth LP "Echo" (2016), which marked a radical departure toward electronic pop. He became widely known after performing "O Helga Natt" for the Norwegian TV series "Skam," with the version garnering over 1 million Spotify streams on release day. As a performance artist, Bech has appeared at the 54th Venice Biennale, the New Museum in New York, ICA and Frieze Foundation in London, and major Nordic festivals including Roskilde, Oya, and Bylarm. An openly gay artist, his personal life is intricately woven into his lyrics. He is a frequent guest at events hosted by the Norwegian royal family and continues to blur the boundaries between pop music and contemporary art.
