Tessa, born Theresa Ann Fallesen on September 8, 1997, is a Danish rapper who grew up with her mother in Greve, Zealand, before moving to Funen. As a young teenager, she was inspired by Danish rapper Natasja and Trinidadian rapper Nicki Minaj, teaching herself English and how to rap by performing along to American rap songs. She was discovered through Instagram by the talent development program Urban Grrls in early 2019. Her October 2019 single "Ben" became a breakthrough hit with over 9 million Spotify streams, and at the Danish Music Awards 2020 she won "New Name of the Year." In November 2021, she received the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Nordic Act in Budapest, Hungary, establishing herself as one of Denmark's most exciting voices in contemporary hip-hop with her blend of creative rhythms, sultry melodies, and poetic lyrics.
