Blood Fire Death is a tribute to Quorthon and the music of Bathory — an exclusive concert project where some of Scandinavia’s most prominent metal musicians gather to bring to life the legacy of one of extreme metal’s most influential figures. With members from bands such as Watain, Emperor, Enslaved, Mayhem, Gorgoroth, Satyricon and Aura Noir, this is a constellation that carries Bathory’s music with the weight and reverence it deserves. Thomas “Quorthon” Forsberg, who passed away in 2004, laid the foundation for black metal as we know it today with Bathory, and additionally created viking metal as a genre — all without ever playing a single live concert. Blood Fire Death sets that right. The project covers the full spectrum of Bathory, from the raw, uncompromising early phase to the epic, hymnal viking works, with acoustic passages, choirs and the necessary brutality. This is not an ordinary tribute concert. It is a ritual, a collective act of honour from musicians who were themselves shaped by Quorthon’s music. A rare opportunity to experience the Bathory universe as it was never performed in its own time.
