Tone of Voice Orchestra is a ten-piece ensemble from Copenhagen, Denmark, formed in 2018 by singer-songwriter Trinelise Væring and jazz saxophonist Fredrik Lundin. Handpicked from various corners of the Scandinavian music scene, the group features four vocalists alongside fiddle, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, cittern, saxophones, flutes, two drummers, and double bass. Their self-titled debut album, produced by Dennis Ahlgren and released in 2022 on Stunt Records, won a Danish Music Award for best vocal jazz album. The orchestra's genre-fluid sound straddles Scandinavian roots, jazz, indie folk, and pop, weaving in textures from Eastern European folklore, Americana, and North African music. With exceptional vocal harmonies and unconventional instrumentation, they have built a reputation for vivid, boundary-crossing live performances across European festivals.
