The Long Ryders are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1981, often credited as founders of the alt-country movement and recent recipients of the Americana Music Association UK's International Trailblazer Award. Their highly original roots rock recipe blends the punk rock spirit of the Ramones, the soul of Merle Haggard, the cosmic country of Gram Parsons, and the jangle of The Byrds into a uniquely American musical experience. The Long Ryders founded alt-country with their 1984 album "Native Sons" and helped popularize Americana throughout their career. Their signature songs "Looking For Lewis And Clark" and "I Had A Dream" have never left the airwaves. For 2026, the band has a new album "High Noon Hymns" produced by Ed Stasium, consolidating their classic sound of country licks over punk rock rhythms.
