Strengeplukk is a Norwegian bluegrass band formed in Stavanger in autumn 2015. The group plays original compositions with lyrics in Norwegian dialect alongside traditional American bluegrass songs and fiddle tunes. The current lineup features Andreas Barsnes Onarheim on mandolin, Jakob Folke Ossum on guitar, Mikael Jonassen on banjo, Nikolai Storevik on fiddle, and Vidar Starheimsæter on bass. Since their 2018 debut album "Fjellvegen," the band has released "Nyslått Blågras" (2020) and "Nålauget" (2023), the latter receiving international acclaim from Bluegrass Today for demonstrating a keen understanding of bluegrass with uniquely original material. In 2021 they toured as the backing band for folk legend Judy Collins and Jonas Fjeld on their "Winter Stories" Norwegian tour. Their fourth album "Neste steg" was released in March 2025, celebrating the group's 10-year anniversary.
