Santiago Ariel Barrionuevo, known professionally as Santiago Motorizado, is an Argentine singer-songwriter, bassist, and illustrator from La Plata. Born on May 19, 1980, he rose to prominence as the founding member, lead vocalist, and bassist of El Mató a un Policía Motorizado, one of Argentina's most influential indie rock bands, formed in 2003. Under his leadership, the band became a cornerstone of the Argentine and Latin American independent music scene, known for their lo-fi aesthetic, poetic lyrics, and emotionally charged live performances. In 2025, Motorizado released his debut solo album "El Retorno," marking a new chapter in his artistic journey. The album showcases a more introspective and personal sound while retaining the melodic sensibility that defined his work with the band. He has since embarked on an extensive solo tour spanning three continents, bringing his distinctive blend of indie rock and Latin songwriting to audiences worldwide. Beyond music, he is also recognized as an accomplished illustrator, further cementing his reputation as a multifaceted creative force in Argentine culture.
