Jo Quail is an internationally acclaimed composer and virtuoso cellist from London, equally at home on stage solo, with bands, or in collaboration with choir and orchestra. She combines an eloquent mastery of her instrument with innovative looping techniques, drawing inspiration from visual artists like Barbara Hepworth and Georgia O'Keefe alongside composers and musicians as diverse as Debussy, Pärt, Tool, and Trent Reznor. Her exuberant performance style has won her a dedicated fanbase spanning contemporary classical, progressive music, post-rock, metal, and electronica. Notable works include The Cartographer, commissioned by Roadburn Festival to redefine heaviness, and her seventh album Notan, which began as improvisations and was arranged for a symphony orchestra. Her next album Ianus is due in 2026.
