John Cooper Clarke is an English performance poet from Salford, active since the late 1970s punk era. Known as the "Bard of Salford," his rapid-fire delivery and darkly witty verse made him a fixture of the punk and post-punk scene. His poem "I Wanna Be Yours" was famously covered by Arctic Monkeys.
